America's Idol

A stunning 92% of Americans believe in God! However, probe a little below the surface,
and this glowing statistic quickly evaporates. Two-thirds of Americans do not believe the
Bible is the word of God; two-thirds do not believe Jesus is the Son of God. What do they
actually believe in?

Interviews of random Americans reveal their real ideas about spirituality:

  •  I believe in a superior being, but I don’t believe in God directly. There is a
creator, but I don’t really believe in God.

  •  I think there’s not really a heaven or hell—just an afterlife. I don’t know exactly
what it is… I think there’s just sort of a middle—like a limbo.

  •  I don’t really believe you have to attend church to go to heaven, or believe in the
Bible, but you just lead a good life. Probably murder is the only thing you can
end up in hell for.

  •  I believe everyone in their own mind thinks there’s a heaven or hell. Heaven is
what makes them the happiest—what they’re looking for—what they strongly
believe by their belief—whether it be God or some other deity or some other
entity.

In this book Ken Dornhecker untangles the hopelessly confusing mixture of popular
modern spirituality to identify exactly just who America’s god really is. Furthermore, he
convincingly solves the ultimate mystery of knowing the One true God
